31 Jul Dana & John’s Steampunk Wedding in Old Sacramento
Dana & John’s steampunk wedding was one of our more unique weddings last year and we really love how their images turned out. Our friend Fearon Deweese from Fearon May Events helped this couple plan their special day, and we think she did an amazing job! From the vintage furniture to the center pieces featuring antique books, white roses, and figurines made of mechanical odds and ends, every detail reflected all that the steampunk aesthetic embraces.
We started the day off at The Citizen Hotel, where we caught glimpses of some of the incredible details incorporated into the couple’s looks. Jenifer Haupt from I Make Beautiful did Dana’s stunning hair and makeup and Dana went for a black lace and jewel encrusted bouquet that fit the theme perfectly and John and his groomsmen darned classic embellished steampunk top hats. After some photos of the couple getting ready, we ventured outside to the Sacramento City Historic Cemetery, where we took some portraits of the couple just before the rain began.
Then it was back to shelter and time for the ceremony at The California State Railroad Museum. Since the steampunk genre is centered around steam-powered machinery, this was the perfect venue for them! The space is open and has an old industrial feel, not to mention 19 steam locomotives! Because it’s such a big place, the guests were able to freely explore and admire the exhibits throughout the night. We really loved how their guests got into the theme as well, most of them dressing the part and some even made a few of the decorations, like the R2D2 made of wood, copper and brass.
All in all, it was a really fun wedding full of great people and lots of love. We wish Dana and John the best!
